Yamandu Costa - guitar, vocal

His main instrument is the Brazilian seven-stringed nylon guitar. Yamandu began to study the guitar at seven years of age with his father, Algacir Costa, leader of the group Os Fronteiriços (The Frontiersmen).

From 2000 till 2008 Yamandu Costa published 12 CD and had been participating in countless performances all around the world, including concerts together with conductor Kurt Masur and French orchestra. Costa's most readily available recording is 2007's Ida e Volta [GHA], an excellent introduction, as it includes solo performances as well as work with his trio - guitar, double bass, and violin.    

New guitarist is fond of jazz and classical music, but still he composes himself his performances and embodies the rhythms of „Gaucho" in his music. „Gaucho music is emotional, maybe even sentimental, but still remains very powerful. It speaks about people and their own rhythms," says Costa.
