Festival masterclasses with the world's best jazz musicians

 

This year during the festival "Rīgas Ritmi 2018" , jazz lovers are invited to the master classes. On June 28th and 29th at the Latvian Radio 1st studio, four artists - a multi-instrumental Adam Ben Ezra, vocalist and songwriter Gregory Boyd, jazz singer Shenel Johns and three-time Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and composer, improviser Alfredo Rodriguez will share their personal experience.

 

 

Thursday, June 28th, at 10AM master class program will open a multi-instrumentalist, composer Adams Ben Ezra. With more than ten million youtube views and a large number of followers on social networking platforms, it's clear that Adams is undoubtedly the star in the internet world. However, his success, of course, is not limited only in social networking platforms, he also performed at international music festivals, where he shared the stage with world class musicians such as Pat Metheny, Victor Wooten and Richard Bona.

 

 

The same day at 12PM experience will be shared by electric steel pan instrumentalist, one of the most innovative steeldrummer - Gregory Boyd. The musician is soulful and melodiously clever. The performance of the artist's scene follows his motto - to be different, he mixes the steel pan sound with the Blues / Soul vocals. His music is energetic mix of Carribean music, pop and rock.

 

 

Friday, June 29th at 10AM will be a special event for all vocalists, as one of the most talented young jazz vocalists from the USA, Shenel Johns will present masterpieces to the singers with jazz, R & B and Gospel singing. She has studied at the Jackie McLean Institute with a Bachelor's degree in Charter Music School with jazz legends like Rene McLean, Jimmy Greene and Nat Reeves. The artist has performed on stage with Curtis Fuller, Hank Jones, Dionne Warwick, Sheila Jordan and many other well-known musicians.

 

 

At noon, 12PM culmination in the masterclass program - the three Grammy nominated Cuban jazz pianist and composer, improviser Alfredo Rodriguez will demonstrate his purposeful and different approach to classical piano music. He has an outstanding embodiment of jazz and unlimited improvisation, with amazing virtuosity and imagination. His exciting artistic work combines the effects of Bach and Stravinska with the roots of his Cuban jazz, known for his music telling a purposeful and different story.
