New jazz artists will meet in Riga !

The application for competition "Riga Jazz Stage" has ended successfully. 30 participants from 13 countries will complete in order to get in to the finals. The the jury has began the competitors' evaluation process and the finalists, which will perform in Riga, at cinema „Splendid Palace” April 25th,  will be announced soon.

For the contest applied jazz vocalists from Spain, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Belgium, Cyprus, Poland, Bulgaria, Russia, Hungary, Austria, and Greece. Among the participants is new talants as well as remarkable artists in their countries. On contest website rigajazz.lv is possible to listen to artists performances.

Prizes

On International jazz artist contest “Riga Jazz Stage” participants are expect are rich prize fund. The winners qualify for the 2200 EUR prize fund and also for the special prize from Maestro Raimonds Pauls. The winners will be provided an exclusive opportunity to participate in „Pori Jazz”, „Rigas Ritmi” un „Nomme Jazz” festivals.

Contest’s jury consists of professional musicians, music producers, festival directors and teachers from six countries – USA, Latvia, Finland, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania. Among them are remarkable Latvian musicians – Maestro Raimonds Pauls, Māris Briežkalns and singer – Intars Busulis, director of festival Pori Jazz - Jyrki Kangas(Finland), the founder and artistic director of Estonian International Jazz Festival Nomme Jazz - Toivo Unt, producer and founder of International jazz vocalist competition „Jazz Voices” in Lithuania - Steponas Januška, one of the best drummer in the world – Jojo Mayer(Switzerland), music manager and producer – Peter Basler(Switzerland) and jazz pianist, vocalist and journalist from Los Angeles - Anne Farnsworth.

At the concert contestants will perform with an accompanying a group Jazz Stage Quartet, where plays Viktors Ritovs - keys, Artis Orubs - drums, Toms Rudzinskis – sax and Edvīns Ozols – bass.

Contest concert – at April 25^th, Cinema “Splendid Palace” at 19:00

Awards ceremony – at April 26^th, Riga’s Congress Center at 19:00
