Open-air concerts of the festival „Rigas Ritmi 2013”


From 3rd to 6th of July in Riga the festival „Rigas Ritmi 2013” offers high quality jazz concerts.
Festival offers a numerous open-air concerts – at the leisure park „Egle”, Kalnciema Quartet and also – Origo Summer Stage.

   The Opening concert of festival on 3rd of July at 17:00 on Origo Summer Stage. Opening of the festival will be accompanied by Latvian jazz team Riga Jazz Quartet, Israeli guitarist Ori Dakari and young jazz vocalists – Laura Budreckyte, Evilena Protektore, Daniel Cacija and Elīna Viļuma.

   On 4th of July at the leisure park „Egle” in Old Riga two concerts are planned. First, by musician Dominion Man who combines the traditional reggae with the gospel texts and calls it “gospel reggae”. Second, by Frank/Pashkevich Experience which is collaboration by Latvian saxophonist Deniss Paškevičs and Danish guitarist Christian Frank. Musicians describe their project as a combination of sounds where modern jazz meets improvisation with fragments from blues and beautifully lyric ballads.

  On 5th of July – the concert of multinational band K.Trio - a combination of jazz virtuosity, rock emotion and pure joy. Also a concert by guitar prodigy Andreas Varady with his trio will take place. The talent of Andreas Varady has built an interest about him from various music critics all over the World. The talented teenager became the youngest person ever to headline a session at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.

   On 6th of July the concerts at the leisure park „Egle” will be closed by Dynamic Groove Society and Jam session by Heikko  Remmel – Estonian contrabassist, laureate of international jazz artists contest „Nõmme Jazz”. A project made specially for festival „Rigas Ritmi 2013” - Dynamic Groove Society – is a collaboration of instrumental and electronic music by Latvian and Danish artists.

   At the Kalnciema Quarter on 4th of July audience will be delighted by the concert of K.Trio together with guest artists – Ori Dakari and Latvian jazz vocalist Evilena Protektore.

  Entrance to all of the open-air concerts – free

   The main concerts of festival will be held in Riga Congress Center. Jazz music admirers are welcomed to attend three evenings with six concerts. The artists of these concerts are – Grammy award winner Robert Glasper, African jazz artist Somi, avant-groove trio Medeski Martin & Wood, beatbox talent Butterscotch, and also jazz legend Diane Schuur and Latvian artists Laima Jansone, Artis Orubs and Andris Grunte.
